In a separate solar water heater system, a water storage tank with a built-in heat exchanger is necessary to heat your water and have it readily available for use. It is possible to use an existing tank with no heat exchanger, but it will require a 2nd pump, a plate heat exchanger and circulate of water from your tank, through the plate heat exchanger while the glycol loop circulates through the other side of the plate heat exchanger. There will also be extra heat loss to the surroundings. It is best to go with a special solar water heating tank with built-in heat exchanger.Dual coil tanks are meant for gas back-up heating. The 2nd coil on top is for the gas backup while the bottom is for the solar loop. All tanks come equipped with electrical backup heating. This heating element with thermostat does not need to be used if not desired. It is a standard 1" Water heating element port and can be replaced with any desired heating element if necessary.Equipped with several automatic control and protection devices such as thermostatic control, over-temperature protector, pressure protection device and one way valve.Provided is the extended and powerful anode rod to help resist corrosion of the tank. Magnesium bars work as the anode in the tank. It will corrode before the other metals in the tank due since it is less noble than the stainless steel and galvanic outer shell. This is especially useful in helping to prevent pitting. No corrosion in a tank means that the water will remain pure and unaffected by corrosion in the tank, which is because there is no corrosion. replace the magnesium bar every 5-7 years and the tank may last a lifetime.The casing of the tank is made of a zinc-galvanized board with static powder coating and a baked finish which resists rust, ultraviolet rays and decoloration from long-term use.Several tanks can be installed in parallel when accomodating larger systems with higher water demand.
